This 2
part training teaches you to use PSI in your
practise with clients who dissociate mind from body.
In Part 1 you will learn all the components ofPSITMand
Part 2 will help you master it via live and
pre-recorded demonstrations, role-plays, and case
supervision.
PSITM
is an overall evidence-based treatment
approach for working with complex trauma and
dissociation, that addresses the root causes of
trauma-based presentations and fragmentation, and so
results in long term recovery. Highly effective
psychological and somatic techniques are woven into a
carefully staged treatment approach, which systemically
integrates significant relationships into the treatment
process. PSI seeks to heal early experiences of
abandonment, neglect, trauma, and attachment loss, that
otherwise tend to play out repetitively and cyclically
throughout the lifespan in relationship struggles. It is
unique in that it approaches the body first (bottom-up
processing) but also works to reinstate systems of
meaning.
These workshops, taken separately or in a series, will build a comprehensive understanding of
trauma assessment and interventions for adults and youth. You will explore the
impact of trauma based on the unique experiences of your clients, examine and
critique innovative trauma therapy techniques and practice specific skills in
assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and evidence-based practices. You will
also learn how to manage the personal impact you may experience from trauma
exposure when working with traumatised individuals in your mental health
practise.

Individual Counselling
and Psychotherapy
Are you tired ofspending
time in therapy analyzing your problems but find you're not able to
change them? Do you have lots of "insight" that doesn't seem to help you
actually get a handle on your behaviour?
When you come in for your first
appointment, you may have a lot to say, or you may be so nervous that
you don't know what say. Trust is a key issue that may have to be
revisited because it is not a static thing - it comes and it goes, and
generally has to be earned to be meaningful. We start by exploring and
enhancing your strengths and resources. Much of what you need to work on
may not be accessible to direct verbal processing. Problems "trapped in
the body" do not go away simply by talking. For example, even if you
"know" that you are physically safe place, until your body calms down
enough to take in new information, you won't be able tomake
use ofthis intellectual
knowledge because those centers of the brain may be "off-line". For this
reason,PSIaddresses
issues of perceived safety and trust first, and teaches self awareness
and self modulation of physical activation levels throughout the work.
PSIenables
you to re-embody yourself, identify and establish personal boundaries,
match the "right feed to the right need”, and frees up energy entangled
in obsessions and compulsions, or drained by body memories and
re-enactments.It
helps you work with behaviors that feel out of control by helping you
reconnect to disowned aspects of self, and develop internal cooperation
and shared goals.
Individual sessions are charged at
$135 per 50 minute session. Longer sessions are pro-rated at $2.70
per minute.
